What is Intelligent Technology?

being the tools and methods we use, and intelligence being one of the origins of technology, it should seem positive that the two are connected. But when you consider , does this really mean that technology can be a beginning in itself?

I believe a main factor of intelligence is the ability to create new ideas and correlate them with existing knowledge. Technology is good at accomplishing one of these tasks, but the "creative thinking" aspect is more than just coming up with something new or uncommon at random. It means that one draws upon past experiences, feelings, questions, and answers, and contemplates unique ways of interchanging them. The difference is that the resulting ideas are understood based on more than the parts that lead to their inception.

should, therefore, lead to a method of self-actualization where the technology would be able to improve itself through "creative thought". Much like a person can improve upon themselves. There are currently basic examples of this in computer software (not exactly "thought"), but without the sense of self-awareness and environment that people posses, they are limited to what is put into them by external sources and the core programming. Here's an example.

Creating true intelligence in a technological form is a goal that may eventually be realized, but is this a goal that will truly improve our lives?

Hey Techno, Bobby from Bestest Blog stopping by. I just wanted to let you know that your blog isn't formatting too prettily in Firefox. The right-hand side bar is appearing at the bottom of the page for me. Something you might wanna look into...

Human consciousness is non-algorithmic, and thus is not capable of being modeled by a conventional Turing machine-type of digital computer. There is no "artifical intelligence". You should read Penrose's "The Emperor's New Mind"

BTW: I've linked you already from my blog so awaiting a link exchange.

The goal of artificial intelligence, for myself, is not to recreate the human consciousness, but to represent intelligent behaviour.
Interacting with the environment, using knowledge and experience, and learning can be artificially reproduced, but I don't think we could ever create true intelligence.
